Ali Rogin’s parents are Max Weinberg, renowned as the drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and the longtime bandleader for Conan O’Brien’s talk shows, and Rebecca “Becky”, a former teacher. She has a younger brother named Jay Bradley Weinberg, notable as the former drummer of Slipknot.
Jay began his career with the punk rock band The Reveling and later toured as a drummer with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band in 2009, filling in for his father. Subsequently, he briefly joined Madball in 2010 and played with Against Me! from 2011 to 2012. In 2014, Jay became the drummer for Slipknot, remaining with the band until his departure in November 2023. In 2024, he was announced as the new drummer for Infectious Grooves, replacing Brooks Wackerman, and is also currently a member of Suicidal Tendencies.

Ali is married to Josh Rogin, a Jewish foreign policy columnist for the Global Opinions section of The Washington Post and a political analyst for CNN. He is also the author of the book Chaos Under Heaven: Trump, Xi, and the Battle for the 21st Century. The couple first met in 2009 at Restaurant Nora during a dinner hosted by The Atlantic’s Steve Clemons. Josh, who knew nearly everyone there except Ali, was introduced to her by Clemons, and their friendship blossomed over the years.
Four years later, Josh invited Ali to the prestigious 2013 Meridian International Center Ball, and their romantic relationship began shortly thereafter. On April 16, 2016, Ali and Josh got married at Meridian International Center, preceded by a lively rehearsal dinner at Nora. Inspired by Josh’s previous experiences teaching English in Japan and reporting from The Pentagon for the Asahi Shimbun’s Washington Bureau, the couple embarked on a whirlwind honeymoon across Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia.
