In 2008, she accepted the challenge to broaden her experience and moved to regional Australia where she lived and worked in Darwin and Cairns, reporting for the ABC and Seven Network.

When not chasing cyclones and crocodiles, Kriukelis covered unique stories from the remote areas of Cape York and Arnhem Land. During this time, she won Queensland Multimedia and SANE Media awards.

In early 2010, Kriukelis moved to the Sunshine Coast, where she indulged her love of sport as a sports reporter and presenter.

In late 2011, she returned to Brisbane and joined the Nine News team. A proud Queenslander, you’ll frequently find her at Suncorp Stadium or the Gabba supporting any team based north of the border.

After being the Queensland correspondent for the TODAY Show for some time, Kriukelis stepped up in late 2017, filling in for news reader Sylvia Jeffreys in Sydney.

Kriukelis was a competitive swimmer, but now enjoys playing touch football, competing in running events, and going to live theatre shows.
