Lally Cruz Dizon Career
Who was Lally Cruz Dixon? Lally was a bag designer. She was exposed to bag manufacturing when she was young, and memories of her growing up years include visits to her parents’ factory. Lally learned all aspects of bag making, from designing, and product development, to pattern making, and production, up to the final stages of quality inspection when she was the Creative Director of their family’s bag manufacturing-exporting company for 6 years. She was exposed to big buyers from Japan, Europe, and the US, collaborating with international designers, developing materials and colors, and conceptualizing styles and collections that were sold across the global market.
After her valuable experience in designing and exporting, Lally felt it was time to re-direct her creative passion under her very own label. Inspired by her love for fashion, traveling, and modern interior design, her style was often construed as appealingly dynamic, classic shapes modernized by her personal design concepts.
Aside from designing and building her brand both in Manila’s booming fashion scene and the ever-changing international market, Lally was also a Director of Vintage Restore, the Philippines’ pioneer in the repair and restoration of luxury leather goods.
Prior to her demise, she was focused on using crocodile skin, python skin, and elaphe snakeskin, adorned with her signature handmade accent pieces. These originally-designed embellishments are usually made of 24k gold plated brass, combined with stones, exotic skin, wood, and other natural materials, a striking feature that is truly her own. Each Lally Dizon creation is given utmost attention to detail, knowing that the woman carrying her creation is defined by style and a discerning taste for all things beautiful.
Lally Cruz Dizon Death
Lally passed on in May 2023. Her friend Ron Chris confirmed the sad news in a statement written: “IN A BLINK OF AN EYE 🙏 Returning from her jam-packed wake at Christ the King, Lally had always been nice and kind to us on each occasion: quite a rarity if you ask when the usual currency is bloated, slight meanness and quite ego-centric.
The bag designer, (who was one of those who pioneered bag repair and maintenance) was a charming staple at design lovefest Manila Fame Maarte and alike, where we would catch up. She would gamely show her new richly colorful wares in swoony exotic leathers.
At gatherings, with no snobbery or haughtiness, Lally was fun and the right amount of naughty as a happy appetizer for a high-octane evening. Kindness always wins and is best, and will be remembered.
Your very sudden passing reminds us that our own goings can be in a blink of an eye, wherein all of us don’t really have much time. The true preciousness, seemingly fleeting nature of our individual pilgrimage is what you taught us today, yours was full of consideration, laughter, and kindness 🙏
Eternal rest grant unto Lally Cruz Dizon and let perpetual light shine upon her. Godspeed Lally+ and pray for us all 🙏”
However, her cause of death has not been determined.
